Heroes on Horses Program
The Talisman Heroes on Horses (HOH) Program represents a holistic approach that aims to improve the physical, mental, and emotional health of veterans. Talisman is dedicated to increasing our veterans’ wellness and well-being by providing equine-assisted therapeutic services with professionally trained staff, promoting awareness of the challenges faced by veterans, improving the understanding of military culture, and growing community awareness of veteran suicide prevention. Participating in experiential exercises in a dynamic therapeutic environment is a natural intersection with military service experience, no matter what battles, emotionally or physically, they are still fighting.
The Talisman HOH Program supports veterans and assists in the reduction of the suicide rate in Maryland by providing equine-assisted therapeutic activities via retreat-based sessions, and the Therapeutic/Adaptive Horsemanship Lesson Program. Retreats are arranged through established partnerships and recognized veteran entities, which ensure participants are eligible for the HOH Program.
- Talisman Heroes on Horses – a one-day retreat designed for six to ten members. The group flows through a scheduled program of exercises centered on strengthening mental and physical well-being.
- Patriot Point Partner Program- a retreat specifically dedicated to wounded veterans and their family members attending a Patriot Point retreat. The referred group engages in a half-day program focused on providing a relaxing and safe environment to enjoy outdoor recreational activities for our nation’s wounded, ill and injured service members, and their families.
