GRASONVILLE — This Veterans Day, the Center for the Military and Veteran Family is honoring those who serve with the dedication of a Veterans Point Memorial at Wells Cove Nov. 11.
Queen Anne’s County and Center for the Military and Veteran Family is operated by the Veteran and Military Support Alliance (VAMSA) and Wells Cove is a county owned park.
“We are honored to partner with the county in hosting this year‘s Veterans Day celebration there at such a sacred site,” Eric Johnson, executive director of VAMSA said.
The dedication will include a special flag unfolding ceremony, a ribbon-cutting, and speakers representing local veterans organizations and county sponsors. Talisman Therapeutic Riding horses will also be on site, according to Johnson.
Singing of the National Anthem will be performed by Megan May.
Serving as Master of Ceremonies is Wes Guckert, VAMSA board of directors; United State Air Force and Vietnam Veteran.
A keynote address will be presented by United State Marine Corps Lieutenant General (Retired) John Sattler.
Invocation will be presented by Mark Hamilton, Kent Island American Legion chaplain.
The event will start at 11 a.m. and end by noon, followed by a lunch reception at Bridges Restaurant in Kent Narrows.
Parking will be available under the Kent Narrows Bridge, with shuttle service provided for accessibility.
